Tasting Note

91+      2003 Battle of Bosworth Shiraz McLaren Vale      2/29/08 ($25)

14. 5% alc
Color: Very deep purple-garnet. (3.5) Bouquet: Concentrted tart cherry and blackberry fruit with cocoa, cedar and some heat, uplifted by good acidity. (2.5) Body: A heavyweight that coats the mouth somewhat with excellent fruit and acidity, but some heat is sticking out. (3.0) Flavor: Concentrated, rich fruit upfront, excellent acidity and some tannin. (3.5) Finish: Parallels flavor, but shows noticeable (but not prevalent) heat, similar to bouquet. Long (45 seconds). (3.0)
Overall: Delicious Aussie Shiraz with concentrated fruit, excellent acidity and just the right amount of oak. Similar to the '04 Jester in many ways, but a little more concentrated. Drink now and in the next 2-3 years. Great value! (15.5)
