Tasting Note

88+     2006 Georges DuBoeuf Pouilly-Fuissé      10/12/08 ($18)

13% alc
Color: Medium yellow-gold.(3.0) Bouquet: Melon, pineapple and lime with some cedary new oak giving spiciness. (2.5) Body: Solid middleweight plus with excellent acidity and mineral/gravel terroir complementing very good fruit. (3.0) Flavor: Lively in the mouth with spicy pineapple and lime fruit. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor, but cedary oak sticks out a bit too much for my taste, bringing some bitterness. Still has VG length and fruit. (2.5)
Overall: A Very Good white Burgundy with true
Pouilly-Fuissé character and body. It also has a lot of attractive Chardonnay fruit, but oak sticks out just a bit too much for my taste. I have liked some other vintages of this wine better, due to the use of less oak, but still very solid stuff and a VG value for Burgundy. Surprisingly, this is one of the best wines made by the "King of Beaujolais", being more inspiring than most of his Cru Beaujolais. (14.0)
