Tasting Note

90+(?)  2006 Rosenblum Harris Kratka  Zinfandel (Alexander Valley)  6/27/09 ($35)

Zin, Carignan and Petite Sirah    14.7% alc
Color: Deep purple garnet. (3.0) Bouquet: Grapy cassis, black cherry, sweet tobacco and some heat. A little rustic. (2.5) Body: Heavyweight that coats the mouth with very ripe fruit and excellent acidity and tannin. More dense and ripe than the Carla's with more tannin too.(3.5) Flavor: Parallels bouquet with big, ripe concentrated cassis and black cherry and a little less heat here. (3.0) Finish: Parallels flavor. Long, rich fruit and cedary tannins. (3.0)
Overall: This is rich, ripe and concentrated with excellent fruit and structure, but not overly interesting. This should appeal to those who value fruit and size above all else. Very enjoyable with some room to improve in the next 2-5 years, but don't expect complexity. Certainly a very different wine than the Carla's. (15.0)
